World Outreach Church has recently been afforded the privilege to come along side a couple very closely related to the church who are teaching and ministering in North Africa. They are daily able to actively stand as salt and light in a very dark and sometimes dangerous part of the world.
Recently arriving to their new host-nation, they are immersed in language studies while simultaneously teaching English to children. They are finding their new challenges are turning into wonderful opportunities to plant a firm foundation in their new place of ministry.
In their own words:
“Things are going wonderful…! Ever since we've been here we have grown greatly spiritually, but at the same time have faced spiritual opposition. These words of Martin Luther in his famous hymn A mighty Fortress is our God remind me of the sovereignty of Jesus over all evil:
‘The Prince of Darkness grim, We tremble not for him;
‘His rage we can endure, For lo, his doom is sure, ‘One little word shall fell him.’
“…As far as lessons go, the main thing that we've learned to do is to love people. There is no amount of theological training, no amount of experience, or anything that prepares a person for loving others. God is teaching us a lot about how to live out the life that he lived while He was on earth. We hope and pray that we’re being Jesus in the lives of many. Continue to pray for doors to open. We’ve had a few opportunities to share and when we have those we pounce to the occasion! …Pray against the enemy's devices that would thwart God’s work and that we would be bold in our witness despite sometimes stressful and often forbidding circumstances.
“…please lift us up in your prayers. Please pray for our health in the upcoming colder months…allergy problem and…numerous sicknesses…since we’ve been here. Pray for the right apartment or house for us as we consider moving off campus. Pray for transportation, we plan on buying a car sometime soon (and for safety on the roads; people here drive dangerously!). Pray for the Lord to continue to open up the doors …”
We certainly do want to keep this couple in our prayers. May God cover them with every element of His protection and give them grace for every circumstance. We count on the Lord to establish them, and having established them, use them to glorify His name to many, bringing forth much good fruit for not only time, but for eternity.
