Pastor Allen brings us lessons from Hezekiah, a king who led his people to turn back to the Lord after a long season of walking away from God. King Hezekiah “did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.” This response takes great intentionality in the daily choices. God is aware and is paying attention to us. Regardless of our background, God can use us to make a difference in His kingdom. Real, meaningful change starts with those who have been called by the Lord. Pastor Allen urges us to be the generation who brings this kind of change in our nation by starting with ourselves and our areas of influence.
Hezekiah was a king who “did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.” Yet, this king received opposition in the form of an Assyrian king who wanted to take over Judah. Pastor Allen continues “Renewal,” by examining the life of Hezekiah, a man who continued to pray and do what was right in the face of great adversity. Hezekiah experienced negativity from the king of Assyria, much like the voices of opposition we hear today. Hezekiah continued to pray and believe during grave danger and God answered his prayer, defeating the Assyrian armies. God’s response to Hezekiah demonstrates there is a direct correlation between prayer and a God response. Our prayers matter and our steadfastness is essential.
